Compared to July, average monthly expenses in August changed little. In Estonia and Lithuania average monthly expenses raised by 0.2% 509 EUR and 382 EUR respectively. Average household expenses in Latvia fell by 1.3% to 391 EUR.
Compared to June, average monthly expenses in July in Latvia and Estonia fell by 1.7% and 2% to 396 EUR and 381 EUR respectively. Average household expenses in Estonia changed little, raising by almost 0.5% to 508 EUR.
Compared to May, average monthly expenses in all three Baltic countries in June changed differently. Average household expenses in Estonia and Latvia raised by approximately 2% to 506 EUR and 403 EUR respectively, while in Lithuania they fell by a little over 2% to 389 EUR.
Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian households leave more than half of their consumption expenses in modern trade chains. However, modern trade is followed by spending in specialised stores and traditional trade, which is second by turnover retail channel in the Baltic States.
Compared to April, average monthly expenses in all three Baltic countries in May changed differently. Average household expenses in Estonia raised by over 4% to 495 EUR, while in Lithuania they fell by 4% to 398 EUR. Meanwhile in Latvia average monthly expenses per household changed little, and raised by 2% to 394.8 EUR.
Compared to March, average monthly expenses per household changed little in Estonia and Latvia: in Estonia, the index fell by 1% to 474.61€, and in Latvia – by almost 2% to 387.96€. Average expenses per household in Lithuania grew due to Eastern holiday: households in April spent 3.6% more than in March, 414.89€.
Compared to February, consumption indexes in all three Baltic countries were on the rise. Average monthly expenses per household grew in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. In Estonia, the index has risen for the second month in a row, and with exception of December stands at the highest (497.50€) since May 2016. The same trend occurs in Latvia and Lithuania: in January and February indexes were falling but in March the average expenses per household have risen to the highest level (395.50€ in Latvia and 400.60€ in Lithuania).
People in the Baltic States prefer local yoghurts brands. Latvian and Estonian households are significantly more loyal to their preferred brands and spend more on yoghurts than Lithuanian consumers.
Among the three Baltic States the least number of households that include tobacco products in their consumption basket is in Lithuania, and their consumption is related to number of children in family.
